2001 ART AUCTION , 17. OKTOBER 2001,
SEMPERDEPOT

Since 2001, the Foundation, under artistic director Dr. Margit Niederhuber, has worked with people engaged in the cultural sector, giving them an opportunity to express their engagement and sense of responsibility for human rights issues.

Numerous prominent Austrian visual artists were ready to donate works, some of them dealing specifically with the theme of human rights, at the first art auction held in the Semper Depot in Vienna.

Pictures which Bruno Kreisky had received from painters, graphic artists and caricaturists from across the world – as expressions of gratitude and appreciation for his many years of engagement for peace and justice - were also put up for auction. The auction brought proceeds of more than € 35,000 (half a million shillings).
